Family Fun

We had a busy weekend with our beautiful babies. There was dance recitals, backyard camping and aMother's Day celebration with family. Somehow we still managed to get enough laundry done for everyone to have clean clothes today. I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend with their loved ones!

History of Quilts

I love the art of quilting. You can creates a piece that could be hung on a wall or be snuggled. Quilts are creatons of form and function. I like to read just about anything quilting related that I can get my hands on. Recently I came across an interesting booklet from Teaching History Through the Arts. It lists eleven quilt myths, a brief history of quilting and a great poem about different blocks. You can click here to read them directly.

It's usually easier to say I live near Houston then to explain that I actually live in a small town 45 minutes south of Houston. People in Texas don't mind driving long distances because everything is so spread out, you kind of have to. Everyday I drive 45 minutes to work and 45 minutes home. This is my eighth year with that commute. I don't have anything nice to say about it, so I'll just stop there.
 Anyway, I was thinking about joining a quilt guild, specifically a Modern Quilt Guild. I just looked up where the Houston Chapter meets and it is 56 minutes away according to Google Maps. I don't think I can stand anymore time just sitting in a car, so I think I'm going to just continue my solo quilting adventure for now.
